Memory Care

Customized Care in a Safe and Comfortable Environment

Memory Care is designed to provide specialized care and support to those with Alzheimer’s disease and other related dementias. At Sprenger Health Care, you can rest assured your loved one is in good hands. We deliver 24-hour care within safe, supportive and life-enriching environments.

Compassionate and Trained Staff

Our team focuses on maintaining each individual’s dignity and independence while providing exceptional care.

We staff our secured units with individuals who are passionate about memory care and have a broad understanding of memory impairments and how to tailor treatment appropriately.

Many of our staff have been certified through the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI)’s Dementia Care Specialist Program, which allows them to identify and report predictors of cognitive decline or transition, further assisting Sprenger’s clinicians in the development of care plans that promote successful outcomes. To learn more about this specialized certification, please read the “Dementia Care Specialists” feature below.

Safety and Security

When it comes to memory care, our priority is to provide patients with a safe environment where they feel comfortable and secure.

Our memory care facilities offer a secure unit for those diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, dementia or other conditions that limit a patient’s cognitive functioning. Within these secure units, patients benefit from personalized care, specialized treatment plans, and the security of knowing that staff is available 24 hours a day to assist with everyday needs.

Specialized Life Enrichment

Through our life enrichment programming, patients can find a sense of purpose while gaining or enhancing the skills necessary to live a meaningful and fulfilling life!

Each memory care unit offers a life enrichment activity schedule, specifically designed to optimize the social and cognitive functioning of our patients with Alzheimer’s disease and related memory impairments.

Family Hospitality

Families and support are important elements of treatment for those with memory impairments. Learn how you can play a role in your loved one’s treatment.

Family visits are encouraged and can be arranged at your convenience-even nights and weekends.

We believe in transparency between a patient, their family and our caregivers. If you have questions or concerns about your loved one, we are here to walk you through each step of their care and provide you with information regarding their progress.

Educational materials are also available to help in understanding a loved one’s condition and how you can be an integral part of their treatment.

Transitional Care

Many of our campuses offer the opportunity for transitional care where your loved ones can move between the clinically appropriate level they need while staying within the same campus they’re familiar with.

For instance, if your loved one is in assisted living and is given a diagnosis of a Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia, they may have an opportunity to move to either skilled or assisted living memory care within the same campus. This type of intra-community transition makes it easier and less intimidating for patients who need a change in their level of care.

Music and Memory Partner

A few of our communities have partnered with the Music & Memory™ initiative. This program uses music therapy to rehabilitate and enhance psychological, physical, cognitive, and social functioning of our residents. Music & Memory™ helps to bring joy back into the lives of individuals suffering from a wide range of physical and cognitive impairments, including Alzheimer’s Disease and other forms of dementia.

Benefits of  Music & Memory™ include:
• Individuals who have been silent or catatonic may begin to respond to conversation and adapt to socialization
• Individuals are calmer and less agitated
• Sun-downing is often reduced or eliminated
• Residents are able to connect with family and staff in a more meaningful way

Please inquire at your Sprenger Health Care community to see if this program is offered.
