Restore Your Independence by Working with Our Expert Occupational Therapy Team
Occupational therapy at Sprenger Health Care focuses on engagement through activities of daily living and developing the strength and endurance needed to get you back to doing the things you love. Our dedicated therapy team collaborated with medical experts to develop individualized pathways of care that optimize wellness & outcomes for each patient’s unique needs.
The goal of our Rehabilitate program is to create a personalized experience for each patient from the moment they walk into one of our communities to the day they graduate from our specialized program.
The Sprenger Difference
Our staff knows the importance of your recovery and makes every effort to help you find comfort and achieve optimal mobility prior to discharge.
Some of the complimentary benefits of therapy at Sprenger Health Care include:
Community Reintegration Program
- Our therapists take patients on community outings, which include trips to church, restaurants and shopping venues
- This helps ensure they are able to perform these tasks independently before graduation from their therapy regimen
Complimentary Home Safety Assessments
It is our pleasure to evaluate the safety of your residence before your graduation from our therapy department, including:
- Comprehensive assessment performed by our therapy team
- Identifies any modifications and repairs necessary to ensure a safe living environment
- Our goal is to reduce, or ultimately prevent, accidents upon your return home.
- Therapists may also evaluate the need for adaptive equipment to help in areas of concern or recommend community support services that can provide further assistance.
Specialty Staff Certifications and Training
We take pride in our staff’s professional development. Many members of our team have undergone extensive training that resulted in licensure or certification. Some specialty trainings and certifications include:
National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification
Our therapist have been certified through the National Stroke Association allowing them to be better equipped to recognize stroke symptoms, assess the severity of a stroke, predict patient outcomes, and identify appropriate treatment options to provide optimal patient care.
Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI)’s Dementia Care Specialist
Training in dementia care allows our memory care team to demonstrate an understanding of dementia and its impact on cognitive function. Trained staff can identify key care approaches for each stage of the disease in order to promote the highest possible level of function in activities of daily living (ADL), mobility, and leisure activity. Most importantly, they learned to identify and report predictors of cognitive decline or transition, further assisting Sprenger clinicians in the development of care plans that promote successful outcomes.
